Worcestershire Parkway Station

Project Details

Client: Worcestershire County Council
Principal Contractor: Buckingham Contracting Group Ltd
Value of contract: TBC

Description of Works:

The supply and installation of steel sheet piles to form a permanent retaining wall as part of the construction of the new station. Piles installed were AZ50-700 14.0m – 17.5m long.

Where access to the pile line was unhindered, piles were installed in crimped pairs using a telescopic leader rig which pre-augered the piles prior to installation. Following pre-augering the piles were installed with a variable moment variable frequency vibratory hammer.

Where access to the pile was restricted or simply impractical, piles were installed in singles using a Giken ECO700S in Supercrush mode. Due to the length of the piles being installed and consequently the length of Supercrush auger required, 2 No crawler cranes were required; 1 No to support the augers and 1 No to service the Giken.

Due to the proximity of the existing railway, some of the Giken installation work was required to be undertaken on midweek night-time line blocks and weekend night-time possessions.
